Fifa 2018 Tournament Wrap Up | VS Gaming

HOW IT ALL WENT DOWN

The VS Gaming Festival concluded its second year of gaming celebrations at Montecasino this past weekend. What featured was nothing short of spectacular as gamers, artists, football fans and spectators descended upon the Montecasino outdoor events area to join in on South Africa’s largest celebration of gaming. Artists such as Riky Rick, Cassper Nyovest, Sketchy Bongo, Twins on Deck, Locnville and Shekhinah kept the vibe going as they performed alongside Africa’s largest FIFA gaming tournament.

This year, VS Gaming took their annual FIFA tournament to the next level by introducing a Playoff Qualifier for the FIFA eWorld Cup. Aptly promoted as ‘the Road to the eWorld Cup’, the tournament saw over 1 000 competitors taking part in two days of tough competition for their seat at the Playoffs and their share of R1.5 million. Emotions ran high; fan favourites were created, and VS Gaming crowned champions on Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

THE RESULTS

Throughout Saturday and Sunday, players made their way through 1 000 opponents for a spot at glory. The competition was tougher, and the stakes were higher, creating some of the greatest gaming stories for a few notable players throughout the tournament. One story in particular captured the hearts of the crowds as 16-year-old Thabo Mike Moloi dethroned last year’s VS Gaming Festival champion to earn his spot at the FIFA eWorld Cup Playoff Qualifiers and R400 000. The top results can be found below.
